About Post Americana

Popular storyboard artist Steve Skroce (The MatrixI, Robot, V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin, Cloud Atlas) has returned for All New All Action Packed miniseries Post Americana which Image Comics is saying is Part Kill Bill and part Mad Max: Fury Road. The Post Americana Mini-Series is set to launch with the First Issue hitting stores this December.

Post Americana is a six issue feast-for-the-eyes-adventure that fans won’t want to miss and features the show stopping talents of multiple Eisner Award winning The Walking Dead Deluxe colorist Dave Stewart.

SYNOPSIS:

It was built to ensure the survival of America’s executive branch of government and its most important citizens, should the unthinkable happen. When the world ended in Post Americana, the executive branch failed to reach the sanctuary, but the elite citizenry did. Eighty years later, one of their own has named himself the new President of the United States. His plan? Subjugate the survivors of the American Wasteland using the same bunker resources meant to rebuild it. The only thing standing in their way is a deadly Wasteland girl, hellbent on revenge.

For me, I can never get enough of All Out Action meets Dystopian warfare so bring it on!

What do we think?

Skroce’s work as a storyboard artist on films such as The Matrix and V for Vendetta are undeniable. Not to mention his ongoing flirtations in the Comic Book Industry with series like Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine and Cable.

From the preview art alone I’m reminded of certain cultural icon series like 2000 AD, Heavy Metal and even the works of Rob Liefeld in early Cable (hey, don’t shoot me – it was good once!). Art aside, there appears to be more than meets the eye with this series. From the panels Image Comics have sent us, Post Americana seems to want to give a narrative of “where America goes wrong” in a Post-Apocalyptic setting. And I’m all on board for this.

What are the Creators saying?

Creator and artist Steve Skroce is beyond excited at this release:

Post Americana is a futuristic sci fi tale about revenge, responsibility and who inherits the Earth after mankind is nearly wiped out by a cataclysm.”

Beyond The Matrix trilogy storyboards, Skroce also worked with the Wachkowskis on Doc Frankenstein and prior to that came to prominence in the industry with his work on Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine, Gambit, Cable, and with his collaboration with Alan Moore on the iconic Youngblood series and for his work with horror legend Clive Barker on Marvel’s Ectokid. In 2015 he co-created with Brian K. Vaughan a breakout hit in We Stand on Guard from Image.

Post Americana #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday December 2nd, 2020.
