Ice-cream follows 14 year old Elgin Foster, who spends the summer of 1988 with his younger brother Dustin, at his newly divorced father’s house in Arizona. Not long after arriving, he begins to witness children being abducted by the local ice cream truck man. Nobody believes Elgin, not even the police, which leads him to question if what he saw was even real or the result of a recent concussion.
The listener follows along as Elgin and neighbor Olivia do their own investigation to try and find out who the ice cream man really is and what he is doing to these missing children…and what he does to them is truly horrifying.

Ice-cream Episode 1: Recap
In the cold open we’re introduced to the universe of Ice-cream and the rules around why the Ice-cream man abducts and kills children. There’s a chilling and sinister aspect to how the Ice-cream man will give out ice-cream for free to children if they sing the class “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream.” A scene which reaches chilling heights when there’s a feeling that the Ice-cream gets off on young children singing to him. The chills are very Stephen King’s IT without the supernatural eating of kids and making them float.
At the conclusion of the cold open we’re introduced to Elgin and Dustin who are being driven to their father’s house by their mother. Upon reaching their dad’s place we’re given the feeling that this is a once happy family that are now awkward one another. As aspect which is elevated with us, the listeners, finding out how and why Elgin and Dustin’s dad left their mother. Not to mention a brief awkward crossroads where Elgin and his Dad talk about acne and how Elgin can use his Dad’s girlfriend’s zit cream. The cringe Dad award goes to Elgin’s dad that’s for sure.
In a different neighbourhood, the two boys take the opportunity to take their skateboards and skate around, exploring. Eventually they come across the Ice-cream man who is just as creepy as ever and tries to get Dustin to sing to him before Elgin interrupts them and they head home. Once home, the two boys start to wind down the evening, however, Elgin hears the Ice-cream truck at 11:30pm and spots the Ice-cream man abduct a little girl.

Ice-cream Podcast Episode 1: Review
Podcast series writers Adam Murciano and Adam Blanford have managed to create an eerily goosebump inducing series that treads into Stephen King territory. Taking the simplest aspects of Americana lifestyle (Icecream) and inserting horrific elements that make Urban Legends so great.
The Ice-cream man has definitely exchanged notes with Pennywise (the Clown) as this Podcast is the closest we’ll ever get to an audio version of IT. It’s sinister, haunting and will leave you guessing what’s happened to the kids he’s abducted. My guess is he’s eating them. More fun that way.
