Last Line originally hit stores in September 2022. Featuring the dark depths of the London Underground, Last Line #1 introduces us to Sally Hazard, a train driver who witnesses the death of a passenger (Alan Smith) who is pushed in front of the train she’s driving as it arrives at a a station in the tube. As she’s being interviewed by London police officers who are asking for her statement as a witness, she is shown security footage and she sees for herself that the dead passenger wasn’t pushed at all. To make matters worse she is then interviewed by Edward Tarn of National Security which makes it look more and more like a conspiracy.

Eager to get to the bottom of this mystery, Sally enlists the services of her brother, Jayden, who plan to break into a secured area of the train station where the death occurred and look at the security footage themselves. Things go from bad to bizarre when two security guards walk in on them and then transform into two “dog guards” (who have the bodies of men but the heads of dogs) and then start firing these energy weapons at them.

Sally and Jayden’s butts are saved when an unknown gun goes off, taking out the two dog guards and the person firing the weapon is revealed to be Edward Tarn. With the Hazard siblings adequately freaked out they begin demanding answers from Tarn (now introducing himself as an agent of MI6) who in exchange offers to take them to the address of the man who was murdered in the first scene.

Once at the house, the door is answered by Adam Smith (a twin of Alan’s), who then begins to explain that his species, “the Woeniro,” are all identical. With more unanswered questions presenting themselves, Adam Smith reveals an old parchment from 1860 between Her Majesty the Queen and the Committee for the Investigation of Subterranean Anomalies. The committee which is now known as MI6 or, The Inter-Services Research Branch.

Before either Sally or Jayden could begin to wrap their heads around this new development, one of the dog-heads appears behind Adam and shoots him. Killing him instantly. Then escapes through a window before throwing a grenade back into the Adam’s house. Luckily, Adam’s robot servant, Vim makes an appearance and grabs the three of them – jumping to safety.

Hot in pursuit, the dog-guard is able to escape by jumping onto a nearby train. Leaving the quartet to conclude their best course of action is to head towards the train station in the very first scene. Hot on his tails, Sally descends into sub-level below the station only to find Tarn holding the dog-guard at gun point. Uttering the final words of Last Line #1 to Sally:

“Time to play dead.”
