This Is GWAR Screeners are out in the Wild
Award-winning documentary, THIS IS GWAR, which gives rare insight into the 30-plus year career of one of the world’s most outrageous heavy metal bands, GWAR, will premiere on Shudder on Thursday 21 July.
Known for their grotesque costumed characters and notoriously wild, fluid-soaked stage, the band which formed in 1985, is one of the most beloved groups in all of metal. You can listen to the latest GWAR album here.
This is GWAR is the powerful story of the iconic heavy metal art collective, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, and other artists, including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera and Ethan Embry, including never seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus).
This Is GWAR is directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story). This is GWAR premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin TX last year and following at NIGHTSTREAM took home the 2021 Audience Award.
Expect an endless array of good and shit takes from critics who don’t understand the unrelenting fury that is GWAR. Hell, you may want to add the word “GWAR” to your keyword block list until you’ve seen the film. This is going to be a ride!
