DC Comics offered a sneak peek at the upcoming DCeased: Dead Planet #1, coming July 7. The heroes return to Earth, but what will they find?
DCeased was one of the hottest comic book titles of 2019. Tom Taylor didn’t hold back in the six-part DCeased, killing off just about every member of the Justice League and sending the remaining heroes fleeing Earth.
Now, in DCeased: Dead Planet, Jon Kent (Superman), Damian Wayne (Batman), Dinah Lance Queen (Black Canary and now Green Lantern) and Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Woman) return to Earth after receiving a distress call from their former home. Years have passed since they evacuated their home, so who is sending the distress signal, and what will they find when they get there?
This is the first of seven issues, but honestly DCeased should be an ongoing series. It’s just that good. Though it takes place in its own bubble, if ever you wanted to reboot a story you need to hand it over to Tom Taylor. I never thought I’d get over Taylor killing off the entire Bat Family – save for Damian, Alfred, Jason Todd, Cassandra Cain and Ace – but in the end I really love the world he has created. I can’t get enough. I really wish DCeased had been more than six issues, and I think Unkillables deserved more than three issues. (Let’s hope there is some continuation of the Unkillables story in Dead Planet!)
