[TRAILER] Sam Worthington’s THE TITAN Trailer Falls Flat

Ascending from the depths of post mega-fame that Avatar bestowed upon him, SAM WORTHINGTON, has unveiled his latest science fiction action thriller, THE TITAN. Enter a not so distant doomed earth setting, elite fighter pilot Rick Janssen (Worthington), is chosen for a military experiment that will jump a couple of evolutionary steps and create a new breed of human, capable of surviving the harsh environments of Saturn’s moon TITAN. Initially a successful experiment, turning Rick into a superhuman (or, mutant), it also gifts him with deadly side effects. Threatening not only Rick, his wife and  family but also the military experiment and life on earth itself.

THE TITAN is not without its familiar faces, allowing for specified genre actors to stretch their wings. Starring Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones), Agyness Deyn (Clash of the Titans), Corey Johnson (The Bourne Ultimatum) and veteran character actor Tom Wilkinson.

THE TITAN ‘s trailer from Netflix falls flat on its heels. Selling us the same old tired storyline which registers as more of a modernized The Fly meets Hollow Man than it does a unique tale. There are no spoilers indicating how the “deadly side effects” will threaten life on earth as we know it. Unless we are to assume the initial premise of all resources on earth will dry up in 10 years is the deadliest antagonist. No more deadly than the multitude of vacant expressions displayed by Schilling in the trailer. Her as the potential victim is a great choice as she plays the card well but as the heroine? Doubtful. I prey for a science fiction monster movie but then I never get what I want.
