GAMMA.CON, Canberra’s locally run pop culture festival, is returning later this month due to a lengthy covid-forced hiatus. This year’s GAMMA.CON will open its doors and run from the 23-24 July at the National Convention Centre.
With some of the biggest names in cosplay, this year’s guests are Henchwench, Scrap Shop Props, Danielle “Where is Danielle” Debs, Soylent Cosplay, and Andrew Lutomski (aka Thor from Oz). All of whom will be giving panels on cosplay, and judging the Cosplay Contest.

GAMMA.CON is back bitches!
Alongside cosplay there’s a tournaments and free play area for video games and tabletop, with both classic systems and titles and the newest games. There’s even an Indie Game Dev Showcase (tabletop and video game) brought to you by the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, where you can meet Devs, trial their new games and buy them.
The vendor’s floor will be selling all kinds of toys, comics, novels and collectables, the artist alley has over 100 artists selling fan art and genre-inspired art, including books, clothes, replicas and more. There’s a range of comic book writers and artists as guests, along with a comic book program.
GAMMA.CON also offers a 15 percent discount at participating hotels, free entry for kids under 5, and family passes (2 adults and 2 kids, or 1 adult and 2 kids).
On the Saturday the all-ages GAMMA.CON closes its doors at 5pm and then reopens them at 6.30pm as the 18+ program – GAMMA@Night! This is a mature-themed version of the program. The freeplay area has mature titles, the vendors area sells more mature content, there’s a bar on site, and the program consists of cospole (cosplay pole dancing) video game themed Drag Shows, and more!
If it’s creative, geeky, unique, weird or wonderful, it’s waiting for you at GAMMA.CON!
