A Killer Hunts the Rich in Space!
Earlier today, BOOM! Studios released a first look at Know Your Station – Issue 1. The first of a five issue mini series, Know Your Station is written by highly acclaimed writer Sarah Gailey (Eat the Rich, Magic for Liars) and artist extraordinaire Liana Kangas (TRUE KVLT). With colorist Rebecca Nalty and letterer Cardinal Rae rounding the talent team.
In the universe of Know Your Station, Death is the great leveler, even for the 1%. The wealthiest people in the solar system abandoned Earth for a private sanctuary in space, leaving everyone else to die amidst cataclysmic climate change. But the ultra-wealthy won’t be safe for long.
A murderer is on the loose, specifically targeting the super-rich! Soon, Elise, an employee of the Avulsion Corporation, is wrapped up in a deadly investigation, with each issue of this outrageously macabre series featuring a new, diabolically different kill!
In addition to Kangas handling the main cover, fans of this series will be able to pick up variant covers by highly acclaimed illustrators Jenny Frison (Poison Ivy), Becca Carey (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jenn Woodall (Space Trash) and more. Me personally? I’m going to pick up the variant cover by Tula Lotay. It’s fucking spectacular!

First impressions of Know Your Station #1
Completely subverting expectations of a dark and gloomy future, Liana Kangas’ artwork is vibrant, filled with colour and completely juxtaposes the bleakness of the synopsis. Just look at the blemishes in the skin of our protagonist on page 4 and you’ll see for yourself that Kangas and colorist Rebecca Nalty aren’t pulling any punches.
While the writing of Sarah Gailey’s is hard to give a first impression on 5 pages alone, it does have a similar feeling of Eat the Rich – if Eat the Rich was thrown onto Star Trek: Deep Space Nine at a moment’s notice. I’m looking forward to seeing how this mini-series plays out.
