Cute anime characters come in a wide variety: animals, companions, creatures, girls, etc. I’m sure you have several that immediately come to mind that meet the qualification of cute anime characters. But I’ve assembled a list of 55 of the most adorable anime characters, of all varieties – from four-legged furry characters, to adorable anime girls, and everything in between.
Ein – Cowboy Bebop
We don’t need to say much about this good baby. Corgis are cute. Anime companion corgi? Even cuter. He’s a data dog, so he’s more than just a cute fur baby and an actual member of the crew.
Nezuko – Demon Slayer
Throughout the series, Nezuko shifts from butt-kicking demon to absolute cutie. With her mostly silent, sweet demeanor and the ability to change her size, shrinking herself down to an adorable portable form, Nezuko is definitely one of the first characters that come to mind for most when thinking of cutest anime characters.
Froppy – My Hero Academia
One of the most wholesome, wonderful characters I’ve ever seen, Froppy is sure to steal your heart. Her Quirk is Frog – meaning she can do pretty much anything a frog can do. She’s wide eyed and sweet, making her one of the cutest characters in the show.
Monokuma – Danganronpa
Hear me out. I know he’s evil. I know he’s even a massive creep. But despite being a puppet for the Ultimate Despair, Monokuma is also pretty stinking cute. He’s ideal for merchandise – even I have a Monokuma plushie.
Megumi – Food Wars
One of the absolute sweetest characters in the history of anything ever, Megumi is one of my favorite Food Wars characters. She’s a talented chef, but full of self doubt. Her passion and kindness, and her adorable design, make her very worthy of this list.

Panda – Jujutsu Kaisen
When I say Panda isn’t REALLY a panda, and more so a mutated cursed corpse, he probably doesn’t sound all that adorable. But Panda is a cutie, and a show stealing support character in Jujutsu Kaisen. The first time most people watch the show intro, and see Panda running, they immediately pause and say “…Was that a panda?”
Pochita – Chainsaw Man
Similar to Monokuma, Pochita is going to be a merchandise selling dream for the upcoming anime. Sure, he may be a canine-like devil. But he’s undeniably cute, and will definitely be a show stealing companion when he transitions from manga to anime, soon.
March – To Your Eternity
March steals your heart immediately, and then the show sends you into a panic when March is chosen as a sacrifice. Her dynamic with Fushi is adorable. March dreams of being a mother someday, carrying around her “babies” – a bunch of stuffed dolls made by another girl in the village for her. Once she meets Fushi, who is still learning to be a human, she takes on the role of “mother” for him, teaching him how to find food and eat, speak, etc.
Inosuke – Demon Slayer
My personal favorite Demon Slayer, I consider Inosuke cute on multiple levels. Boar head mask? Cute. Attitude? Adorable. Maskless? Even Tanjiro remarks on being surprised how cute Inosuke is, despite his tough guy façade and hiding beneath the boar’s head.
Hamtaro – Hamtaro
It’s been a long, long time since I’ve watched Hamtaro, but I loved that little cutie. A hamster, hanging out with his hamster friends, having little hamster adventures. What’s not to love?
Eri – My Hero Academia
Rescued by the pro heroes and a handful of UA students, Eri is a girl that’s been put through hell and still wants to learn how to smile and become a hero. Her journey once she rescued is heartwarming, and it’s hard to deny she’s cute.
Maromi – Paranoia Agent
Maromi is a plush dog character that takes on a Hello Kitty level of popularity in the show, even though she’s stressed. Her creator carries her plush around, and – to the creator – Maromi can speak to and comfort her. Maromi is absolutely cute – that’s what she was designed to be, after all.
Blair – Soul Eater
Technically, she’s a witch-like monster that can shape-shift into a cat – but she’s a cutie all the same. Especially in cat form, wearing her little witch’s hat. She’s a flirtatious and fun-loving character.
Ritsu – Assassination Classroom
Sure, she may be an AI – but she’s adorable. Sent as a weapon to kill Korosensei, once given free will, Ritsu decided she’d rather work together with her friends in class to assassinate their teacher, rather than just analyze everything herself until the task is complete.
Kirara – InuYasha
She can be small and sweet, or huge and fierce. Either way, Kirara is one of the cutest InuYasha characters. Her tiny little meows sound like peeps when she’s in her smaller form, and it steals my heart.
Kumoko – So I’m a Spider, So What?
Kumoko is the cutest little anime spider I’ve ever seen. Even people with spider phobias could get over it for this small lesser taratect.
Rimuru – That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
Main character, Rimuru, is a slime that’s waaay overpowered. But Rimuru is also ridiculously cute, especially in slime form. There’s a reason almost everyone in the show immediately loves Rimuru.
Excalibur – Soul Eater
Despite being on of the most obnoxious characters I’ve ever been introduced to, it’s hard to deny how cute Excalibur is. But despite his power and cuteness, it’s hard to tolerate him for long.
Retsuko – Aggretsuko
I’m a little biased, because I’m immediately sold on any red pandas in anything. But Retsuko is adorable and angry, and in many cases – highly relatable.

Merituuli – Ancient Magus Bride
An adorable, wide-eyed Selkie, Merituuli steals your heart instantly. It’s hard to deny immediate affection to a small, seal-eyed cutie like this.
L – Death Note
He may seem like an odd choice for this list, but there is something about L that is so awkward, it’s wholesome. Sure, he’s a reclusive genius with no friends really. But he’s quirky and his interactions with others can be adorable.
Pikachu – Pokemon
Sure, you could argue any number of other Pokemon are as cute or even cuter – but we’re going to let Pikachu represent the entire franchise of cute characters. He’s the main Pokemon, and the first one many of us bonded to immediately. His relationship with Ash is also pretty adorable.
Akamaru – Naruto
Man’s Best Friend doubles as a partner in ninjutsu. But seriously, Akamaru is adorable, and his bond with Kiba is heartwarming. His cuteness transcends from his time as a pup, well into his life later.
Phil – The Promised Neverland
Four-year-old orphan, Phil, is an absolute doll, and not only intelligent – he’s incredibly brave. He’s loyal to his friends and his fellow orphans.
Rin – InuYasha
Speaking of cute kids, that also happen to be orphaned, and pretty brave for their age – Rin is one of the cutest characters in InuYasha. Her devotion and loyalty to Lord Sesshomaru after he saves her is pretty precious, considering his cold demeanor is the opposite of her warmth.
Iggy – Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
A Boston terrier as well as a stand user, Iggy is an ally in Stardust Crusaders. He’s particularly adorable with his small body, large head, and cartoonishly human facial features.
Chomusuke – Konosuba
Chomusuke is Megumin’s familiar, as well as half of the goddess Wolbach. She’s an adorable black cat with a red cross on her forehead. Oh, and bat wings. She’s the ideal cute, spooky kitty.
Kanna Kamui – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
With huge blue eyes, pretty lilac hair, and adorable little horns – Kamui is arguably the cutest character in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. She’s quiet and, despite being older than most of the humans, behaves quite a bit like a child herself.
Ai Ohto – Wonder Egg Priority
Even though she’s bullied for her heterochromia, the one brown eye and one blue eye really add to her adorable appearance. She reminds me a lot of Six from Little Nightmares, or even Coraline, with her yellow coat and short blue hair. But beyond appearance, her personality is endearing and makes you immediately want to protect her.
Fushi – To Your Eternity
While Fushi does have some adorable forms that he can take, the cutest part of Fushi is the child-like innocence he has, as well as his general ignorance to much of the world. His bonds with others are heartwarming, and occasionally heartbreaking. But either way, he’s very cute.
Gobta – That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
One of the early on friends and followers of Rimuru, Gobta is probably my favorite of the goblins. He’s a bit goofy looking compared to the rest of his village, but it adds to what makes him endearing, in my opinion.
Uraraka – My Hero Academia
One of the main characters, as well as best friend and crush of Izuku Midorya, Uraraka is one of the sweetest and fiercest young heroes at UA. She’s got an adorable face, with huge brown eyes, and her cuteness spills out into her personality.
Runa – Kakegurui
She can be conniving and cruel, sure. But she puts up a cheerful, cute exterior, with her sweets and her cute animal kirugumi she wears constantly.

Guts – Kill la Kill
Guts is a family pet and one of the main characters of the show. He’s a cute little pug with huge eyes that wears a grey hooded sweatshirt.
Sputter and Flare – Fire Force
Bet you didn’t anticipate sentient fire balls on this list, did you? Or maybe you did. Sputter and Flare are cute little fire balls Maki uses to fight Infernals. Sputter is the cute, almost sad looking ball, while Flare is the one that looks cranky.
Chiaki – Danganronpa
Chiaki is a quiet gamer girl – specifically, the Ultimate Gamer – and, in a lot of ways, she’s the heart that binds her class together. Both in the game and anime, Chiaki is a core part of the story and significant piece of the class.
Milim Nava – That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
The cutest little Demon Lord you’ll ever see. She’s one of Rimuru’s most powerful allies, as well as a fan favorite for being a cute but badass character.
InuYasha – InuYasha
Similar to Inosuke in Demon Slayer, InuYasha is cocky, but sometimes hard to take seriously because of his cute appearance. Sure, he may want to fight everyone to prove how strong he is. But most of us want to pet the dog ears.
Rem – Re:Zero
A maid, along with her twin sister, Rem is the more soft spoken of the two, and for many – she’s the cutest of the two.
Kon – Bleach
Kon is an artificial soul that helps Ichigo throughout Bleach. His body he inhabits is that of an adorable little lion plush from a popular show. However, Kon is a bit of a pervert, which keeps his cuteness isolated to just his appearance.
Madoka Kaname – Madoka Magica
Magical girls are almost always cute, right? Despite how dark the anime is, Madoka is a bit of bright pink cuteness there to battle the unnerving aspects.
Clavis – Death Parade
Everyone loves Clavis. He’s a sweetheart, manning the elevator, giving everyone his cute smile. Honestly, I think he’s often forgotten in such a dark themed anime. But I appreciate the moments of innocent brightness he brings.
Selkie – My Hero Academia
The Seal Hero, Selkie, is a muscular man with all the abilities of a seal – making him an ideal water rescue hero. But he has a fixation on coming across as “cute” – which is hit or miss with a lot of characters in the show. But I side with it being cute. Be yourself, Selkie.
Shuna – That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
She’s an oni princess – and princess should be enough to let you know she’s a cute character. Pink eyes and hair, and a sweet personality, all combine together to make her one adorable ally to Rimuru.
Shippo – InuYasha
An orphaned fox demon, Shippo becomes one of the main companions that follows InuYasha and Kagome around. He’s a bit sassy at times, especially with InuYasha, but he can be sweet, too.

Momo – Food Wars
Member of the Elite Council of Ten, Momo is one of the top chefs at the school. Her specialty? All things cute, of course! Pretty obvious why she makes the list.
Totoro – My Neighbor Totoro
You didn’t think I’d leave off one of the most widely recognized anime characcters, did you? Totoro may be massive, but that’s just to hold all that cute.
Shiro – No Game No Life
Shiro is colorful, with huge eyes that come with the territory of being cute. She gives off chibi vibes that just make her look like one of the cutest anime girls, ever.
Hinata – Naruto
Head-over-heels for Naruto, Hinata is a fellow ninjitsu student. She’s sweet, and her appearance is cute – with her peculiar eyes, dark hair, and adoration.
Hinami – Tokyo Ghoul
Her bond with Kaneki starts the love for Hinami’s character, but her resilience despite the horrors she endures keeps you loving her. She’s young and sweet, despite being a ghoul.
Luna – Sailor Moon
Can’t forget the iconic talking cat, can we? Luna is one of the top cutest anime characters for many, and one of the most recognizable.
Yui – Sword Art Online
Foster “daughter” of Kirito and Asuna, Yui is an AI within Sword Art Online, that transfers her data into ALfheim Online. She’s an adorable, loving girl – even if she isn’t technically real.
Megumin – Konosuba
Her cat made it, so why not let the adorable witch girl make the list, too? She’s got an adorable outfit, and despite her cocky attitude at times, she’s pretty cute.
Umaru-Chan – Himouto! Umaru-Chan
She’s cute. She’s relatable. Like many of us, she has an indoor form and an outdoor form. Indoor is her true form, and outdoor is the more attractive, put-together form. Her indoor form is childish and lazy – as well as adorable.
Fat Gum – My Hero Academia
People instantly fell in love with Fat Gum in My Hero Academia. Huge, loveable, and surprisingly incredible, Fat Gum is more than meets the eye. A pro hero, and mentor to Kirishima and Amijiki.
