Support Actress and Stuntwoman Zara Phythian Kicks Ass
Zara Phythian is what we like to call a physical actress. Originally from a background of studying Shotokan Karate at the tender young age of 7 years old before finally moving on to Tae Kwon Do. Phythian, a British actress, turned her love of martial arts into a film career which sees her rubbing shoulder with some of the best in the Film Industry. From Marvel’s Doctor Strange (2016) to Tribal Get Out Alive (2017), there are no roles out of this exhilarating performer’s wheel house.
1. Doctor Strange (2016)
Everyone who’s aware of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is aware of Doctor Strange aka the Master of the Mystic Arts. The film which acts as an origin story for Marvel Comics’ Stephen Strange, a brilliant neurosurgeon who loses the ability to perform surgeries and goes down a veritable rabbit hole into the world of the mystic arts.
In this film, Zara Phythian plays one of the Mystic Zealots who’s constantly on the heels of Doctor Strange. So yeah, she’s one of the henchmen (hench-women) in this one. Keep an eye out for some of her exceptional martial artistry on display through many of the action sequences. It’s a role that any stunt person would covet!
Okay, maybe calling this a Zara Phythian film is a stretch but it’s fun seeing her in a blockbuster nevertheless.
2. Outlawed (2018)
Outlawed is an action packed story of corruption and murder. Outnumbered, outgunned and against all odds, a Commando fights his way through a siege to save his girl.
In this film, Zara Phythian plays Lt Dawson, an ally to the lead protagonist, Jake (played by Adam Collins). Whilst it won no awards, if you’re up for an afternoon of no nonsense action then add Outlawed to your playlist.
3. Cannibals and Carpet Fitters (2017)
A group of carpet fitters are sent on a job to an old Country house in the middle of nowhere. However they soon discover it’s a trap set up by the savage, cannibalistic family, The Hannings. The carpet fitters are forced to fight for their lives or risk ending up being the evenings dinner. Unfortunately they are not quite your typical heroes!
In this film, Zara Phythian plays one of the Carpet Fitters who is up for the fight of her life. No spoilers on if her character survives this film or not.
4. Tribal Out Alive (2020)
Zara Phythian stars as Elite military personnel Caitlin Ross, in Tribal Out Alive, who retires from service after suffering from PTSD.
