There is an abundance of blonde anime characters out there. From characters you cannot help but love, to villainous lunatics, and even powerful characters that command your respect. Blonde in anime can range from truly blonde looking hair to bright yellows. And even more surprisingly – there’s an abundance of big name, fairly legendary characters on this list.
1. Takumi Aldini – Food Wars
A rival-turned-friend, Aldini becomes one of the chefs that really wants to challenge Soma, and one of the students of his class that Soma considers on his level. Takumi is loyal to his twin brother, Isami, whom he cooks side by side with smoothly and with a natural grace. He can also use his family heirloom, the mezzaluna, with ease in class and in competition. The Aldini brothers are both Italian trained cooks, though they are half Japanese, half Italian blonde anime character.
2. Dio – Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Manipulative, surrounded by minions, and violent – Dio is the main antagonist of part one and three of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. He becomes a vampire, later a stand user, and even the father of Giorno Giovanna.
3. Yang – RWBY
Bubbly, tough, and the half sister of the main protagonist, Ruby, Yang is a member of Team RWBY. She drives a motorcycle, Bumblebee, loves cheesy puns, and can use her dual ranged shot gauntlets to hold her own in battles.
4. Seras Victoria – Hellsing
Once a young police girl, and still referred to often as “Police Girl”, Seras Victoria was transformed into a vampire by her master, Alucard, to save her life. Incredibly strong, but loyal to her master, Seras joins the Hellsing Organization to hunt down vampires, ghouls, and the like alongside Alucard.
5. Saber – Fate/Zero
Once King Arthur (more accurately – King Artoria), Saber is the servant of Kiritsugu Emiya in the Holy Grail War. She is the King of Knights, wields Excalibur, and is loyal to her master’s wife – Einsberg. As far as morals go in the show, Saber is one of the more noble and just.
6. Bakugo – My Hero Academia
One of the top students in Class 1-A, Bakugo is also the childhood friend and student rival of the main character, Izuku Midorya. Bakugo is determined, hardworking, though a but egotistical. He wants to be the next number one hero, and his explosive Quirk is definitely a good one for it.
7. Zenitsu – Demon Slayer
Forced into training to become a Demon Slayer to repay a debt, Zenitsu, is a girl-crazy young man that is fairly terrified of everything. He manages to be one of the five new members of the Demon Slayer Corps, alongside his soon-to-be friends, Tanjiro and Inosuke. He practices Thunder Breathing, though he struggles to use it beyond the first breathing technique – Thunder Clap and Flash.
8. Misa – Death Note
Imagine the chaos of a yandere getting a death note, and you have Misa Amane. A model rising in popularity, Misa receives a death note after a Shinigami falls in love with her and dies saving her, another Shinigami comes it her and gives her the dead shinigami’s death note. Misa becomes infatuated with getting Kira’s attention, becomes a second Kira, and immediately falls for Light Yagami the moment she lays eyes on him. Misa is completely devoted to Light and his ideals as Kira, willing to put herself on the line time and time again, despite the one sidedness of their relationship.
9. Gugu – To Your Eternity
Hardworking, though very poor, Gugu lived with his older brother until he stole all their savings and abandoned young Gugu. Gugu tried to fend for himself, but tragedy befell him one day when he was nearly killed saving the girl he liked. Deformed to the point of shame after the accident, Gugu wears a helmet and works for the Booze Man that saved his life. Eventually, he meets Fushi, and the two become like brothers.
10. Emma – The Promised Neverland
Loving, motherly to the younger children, brave, and clever – Emma is one of the trio of main characters in The Promised Neverland. She’s determined to save her friends from their fate at any cost.
11. Irina Jelavich – Assassination Classroom
A formidable assassin sent to kill Koro-Sensei, turned English teacher for class E, Irina is a bombshell that most men immediately swoon over. Except Karasuma, the one man she wants. She starts out on rocky terms with the students, but eventually all grow to love each other, in a way.
12. Junko Enoshima – Danganronpa
It’s hard to say too much about Junko without spoilers, so stop reading now if you want to avoid Danganronpa spoilers. Junko is the Ultimate Fashionista at Hope’s Peak Academy – until it’s revealed she’s also the Ultimate Despair. Genius level intellect, yet entirely insane, and willing to let those around her suffer just to savor their despair, Junko is a fan favorite for many of the series.
13. Mito, aka Meat Meat – Food Wars
One of my absolute favorite Food Wars characters, Mito is a chef with a specialty in meats, and one of the best chefs at Totsuki academy. We’re introduced to her as a pawn for Erina as she is destroying all of the clubs at the school that are in her way. Meat Meat is sent to destroy the bowl club when Soma steps in, and takes the Food War challenge on Bowl Club’s behalf. After Soma beats Mito, they soon become friends, and Mito becomes a reoccurring character that’s instrumental in Soma’s growth as a chef.
14. Naruto – Naruto
Main protagonist, Naruto Uzamaki is a ninjutsu student with big dreams of becoming the next Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto is an outcast in his village because, unbeknownst to Naruto, he was cursed as a baby with the Fox Demon.
15. Integra – Hellsing
Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing is an absolute boss. Leader of the Hellsing Organization, and the only person in the world with any real sort of control over Alucard – quite possibly the most powerful vampire in the world, Integra has had a rough life, and Alucard was there for her at one of the worst moments in her youth. But it all turned her into the fearless woman she became.
16. Iris – Fire Force
A sister from the Holy Sol Temple, Iris is a member of the Special Fire Force Company 8. Kind, courteous, and very devoted to her beliefs, Iris is a caring character you immediately love. She isn’t much use for fighting an Infernal, but is needed to give prayers as they fight the Infernal, in hopes of putting the soul at peace.
17. Meme Oshino – Monogatari
Oshiro is the man you go to when you have unusual problems. He’s an aberration specialist, and aids Araragi no only with his own problems, but with any that Araragi comes to him about. He lives in an abandoned building with Shinobu.
18. All Might – My Hero Academia
The number one hero, as well as the Symbol of Peace, All Might is known for being the hero with a smile on his face, no matter what. But his power holds a secrets – One for All, a transferrable power passed down through the years. He’s the 7th holder, and passes his power on to young, and quirkless, Izuku Midorya.
19. Kenji – Bungo Stray Dogs
A good, country boy with a smile on his face and a friendly attitude. Kenji can only use his superhuman strength on an empty stomach, like a hungry Hulk. He’s a member of the Armed Detective Agency.
20. Lindel – The Ancient Magus Bride
Caretaker of the dragons, friend/master/mentor to Elias, Lindel is a mage that lives a fantastic and long life. Despite his young appearance, he’s incredibly old.
21. Gilgamesh – Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
Also appearing in Fate/Zero, though as the Archer servant then, in this series, Gilgamesh is free to be in the modern world after the events of Fate/Zero and the last Holy Grail War. Self-centered, egotistical, and overpowered, he considers himself the King of Kings.
22. Rengoku – Demon Slayer: Mugen Train
Though he’s in more than just the Demon Slayer movie, Rengoku gets his biggest chance to really shine in Mugen Train, and we get a grasp on his character. Brave, incredibly strong, and passionate – Rengoku’s burning spirit is reflected in his flame-like hair. As the Flame Hashira, he’s one of the strongest swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps.
23. Leafa – Sword Art Online
Suguha’s alias for her avatar in the game Alfheim Online, Leafa is a strong warrior. She helps anyone that needs it, including unknowingly aiding her brother, Kirito, without realizing he’s even in the game. Inevitably, this leads to some heartbreak when she realizes who he is after she starts to gain some feelings for him.
24. Mary – Kakegurui
When you first meet Mary in Kakegurui, she’s a ruthless gambler that takes Ryota as a pet, after getting him so far in debt he cannot repay her. But once she meets Yumeko, she meets her match, and ends up in debt herself. Once both girls end up as pets to the student council, the two girls become friends and start working together to dismantle the student council to regain control of their lives.
25. Kento Nanami – Jujutsu Kaisen
As a businessman turned jujutsu sorcerer, Nanami is a serious character. Despite going into an alternate career for a while after graduating college as a sorcerer, he realized that this was the better career path for him. He’s skilled, smooth, and business-like, even when facing curses. But despite his seriousness, he’s a loyal character.
26. Denji – Chainsaw Man
Denji is the main character of the upcoming anime, Chainsaw Man. Since we have a trailer, I consider him officially in the realm of anime character and not just a manga character – so he qualifies for the list! Denji is a devil hunter for the Yakuza that, through a series of unfortunate events, ends up becoming the Chainsaw Devil. He comes off as a bit rude, brash, and even naïve, but despite this, he’s very empathetic to others, making his personality come off more childlike.
27. Edward Elric – Fullmetal Alchemist
The youngest state alchemist of Amestris, Edward Elric is the main protagonist and the Fullmetal Alchemist. He’s down a few body parts from different alchemy attempts – some successful, others less than. He’s devoted to his brother, Alphonse, and hopes to someday be able to restore their bodies. To replace his missing limbs, Edward uses automail prosthetics.
28. Vash – Trigun
Known as Vash the Stampede, Vash is the main character and the most feared outlaw on his planet. He’s an incredibly skilled gunner, though kind hearted – befriending people everywhere he goes, and even refusing to kill. He’s a bit of a goofy character when he isn’t serious, which fits that main anime character vibe well.
29. Armin Arlert – Attack on Titan
One of the main protagonists of Attack on Titan, and best friend of Eren Yeager, Armin starts out in the show as a member of the Survey Corps. He’s tactical and can keep his cool under pressure, as well as having a genius level intellect. Armin has always been intrigued by the world outside the wall, which becomes more and more prevalent to his character as the series goes on.
30. Usagi Tsukino – Sailor Moon
Do I even need to introduce one of the most iconic anime girls of all time? Also known as Sailor Moon, Usagi Tsukino is a school girl that can transform into her alter ego. She has a kind nature, and always wants to be helpful to others. She also enjoys sweets, manga, and video games – like a fairly normal school girl, despite being anything but.
31. Rachel – Angels of Death
Rachel, the main protagonist, wakes up in a building, with no idea how she got there. Soon, she encounters Zack, as he tries to hunt her down and kill her. Rachel, or Ray as she is sometimes referred to, is obsessed with the existence of God. So much so, she even begins to eventually consider Zack her god.
32. Violet Evergarden – Violet Evergarden
Soldier turned ghostwriter, Violet was once treated as nothing more than a weapon. She was raised and educated to be a weapon, so she comes across quite emotionless and apathetic, because she doesn’t understand how to process human emotions. She becomes an Auto Memories Doll to attempt to understand, especially after not understanding the meaning of the words “I love you”, said to her by her Major at the end of their final battle. As an Auto Memories Doll, she can learn to transcribe the feelings of others into words, and eventually understand them herself.
33. Shinobu Oshino – Bakemonogatari
Companion to Meme, mentioned earlier in the list, Shinobu is a vampire girl. She loves donuts. But before her current life, she was a princess with a curse on her that made anyone near her kill themselves. Eventually a purebred vampire makes her into a powerful vampire. Though she is very, very old, she takes on the form of a young girl.
34. Ichigo – Bleach
Another blonde anime character that has basically reached a legendary status at this point, Ichigo receives Soul Reaper powers after meeting Rukia. Ichigo has an ever growing desire to protect people, both strangers and those close to him.
35. Maka Albarn – Soul Eater
Her father made the red-haired anime character list, and he death scythe – Soul – made the list for silver haired anime characters. So, of course, for blonde characters, I had to bring in Maka Albarn. Maka is a student of the Death Weapon Meister Academy, and a Scythe Meister. She wants to be a talented Meister like her mother was, and shuns her father often. Maka is the main protagonist of the show.
36. Yugi Moto / Yami Yugi – Yu-Gi-Oh!
Can’t have one without the other, can we? Yami is an ancient pharaoh that resides within Yugi after he solves the Millennium Puzzle. Yugi is a sweet teenager, and Yami is a confident duelist. Obviously, they’re the main characters of the show, and were the first anime crushes for many back in the day.
37. Vinsmoke Sanji – One Piece
Let’s go from one of the longest running shows to another – One Piece. The cook for the pirates, though technically a prince of the Germa Kingdom before leaving his family. He’s one of the top fighters of the Straw Hats, though he is also one of the most calm and composed characters.
38. Android 18 – Dragon Ball Z
Twin sister to Android 17, formerly known as Lazuli when she was still a human, Android 18 was created to take revenge on Goku. She is initially a villain, but eventually joins the Z fighters, even becoming Krillin’s wife, and the mother of their daughter – Marron. She’s sarcastic, cool in battle, and often smiling.
39. Medicine Seller – Mononoke
Purely known as the medicine seller, he is a man with a vast knowledge of the supernatural, that wanders, dedicating his life to ending the Mononoke. Calm, mysterious, and observant, he is a relatively reserved blonde anime character dedicated to his mission.
40. Tohru – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
Able to transform into a human girl, Tohru is technically a dragon. After being rescued by Kobayashi, she works as her maid and falls for her. She was raised to hate humans, but her opinions change after meeting Kobayashi. She’s easily influenced, and kind for the most part, unless someone is a threat. She works hard and loves just as hard.
41. Darkness – Konosuba
Dustiness Ford Lalatina, more frequently referred to as Darkness, is one of the main protagonists of Konosuba. She’s known to be a bit masochistic in nature. Darkness is a gorgeous blonde anime character, full of pride, and, well, a bit of a pervert.
