What’s the deal with Papa Meat and this Horror Film?

RackaRacka Boys announce ‘Talk to Me’ getting acquired by A24

Papa Meat, the youtuber who likes to create screwed up cartoons on his youtube channel (which resemble a style crossover between Ren & Stimpy and The Maxx), has revealed he’s seen horror film ‘Talk to Me’ at SXSW – and he thinks you should see it too.

Over the years, Papa Meat has created some truly great mind f***s on his youtube and has delivered some great takes on modern day horror films. His Skinamarink review, for instance, really solidified for me that I see eye-to-eye with this cartooning maniac.

So I guess I’d better listen or he’ll draw a picture of me on his youtube with melted champagne glasses for man boobs. I hear he’s into that.

Listen and obey.

What’s with this ‘Talk to Me’ Horror Film?

Hailing from Adelaide, The RackaRacka Boys aka Danny and Michael Philippou have become international YouTube stars and ‘Talk to Me’ is their film debut.

It’s about a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, and become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

The film is a collaboration with Sydney-based Causeway Films, with producer Samantha Jennings having built a relationship with the brothers that began on the set of horror film The Babadook, as well as Cargo, which starred Martin Freeman.

“The scariest movie of all time is what they’re calling it,” Danny laughingly told ABC back in 2021.

Just 3 weeks ago, Danny and Michael announced on their youtube that Talk to Me has been acquired by A24, one of the bigger distributors of genre film. Big things for Danny and Michael on the horror-izon (I’m sorry).
