About GXTP

GXTP, the newly-formed rock group featuring multi-platinum and GRAMMY nominated producer Jason Paul (better known as Poo Bear), Latin-GRAMMY nominated producer Sasha Sirota, and Triple Sixx, have released the music video for their latest single “Contraband” featuring Tommy Lee — out now on all DSPs. While the track captivates listeners with its rock n’ roll authenticity, the video offers the perfect amount of comedic relief as it parodies 2008’s Tropic Thunder.

Directed by Rock And Egg (Highly Suspect, Des Rocs, Ski Mask The Slump God), the music video features Tommy Lee, along with a cameo from internet star King Bach, and finds the combatants on a mission through the jungle with toilet paper guns and grenades in hand to recover one of their own while smuggling out highly valued contraband.

What’s with the GXTP Name?

GXTP — which is an acronym for ‘guns and toilet paper’ — was conceptualized during the pandemic as a way to tap into a genre the group of creatives had not yet explored. The project is fronted by the two powerhouse producers who have both previously held top spots on Billboard’s R&B Producers charts with Jason being known for having penned and produced some of pop’s biggest hits by Justin Bieber and Usher while Sasha has worked with the likes of Zac Brown Band and Yelawolf.

When speaking about the creation of the group, Jason shares, “It all stems from the pandemic and a poem. At the time there was a shortage of guns and toilet paper. I read a poem by our partner Triple Sixx, and I said to him ‘this poem feels like a rock song, brother.’ We ended up turning that poem into a band.”

Praised as a “rock and roll banger” by V Magazine, “Contraband” is the second single from the band following the release of debut track “Foresight” which has already garnered over 2.1 million streams since launching last fall. This is just a taste of what’s to come from GXTP’s forthcoming full length album. In the meantime, fans can head on over to GXTP’s website here to work through a series of puzzles, games, and riddles to unlock a free NFT which will also tie into the upcoming releases.
