When Janet and Oliver Gowdie move to a quaint mountain town, their daughter Casey becomes part of a horrific chain of events revealing that their neighbors are anything but what they seem. Soon, an unsettling old woman named Agnes Early fixates on Janet and Oliver’s other daughter–2-year-old Isobel.

It becomes clear that it’s impossible to know who to trust… or who is even still human…

First Impressions

It’s always hard to judge how a comic book is going to look and feel when all we’ve got is a bunch of covers and some character designs to go with. What’s inside the comic book is what matters, after all.

So what I’m going to go with is a first impressions on the comic book covers themselves. While the main comic book cover by Miguel Mercado provides a spooky zombie vibe with its unseen arms stretched out to touch the main characters of the comic, I find myself drawn to the variants by Frany and Fábio Moon.

Frany’s cover has that air of innocence mixed with goth girl vibe and the snake crawling all over her gives it a nice touch. Not to mention the bed of thorns which could be her last resting place? Who knows.

While Fábio Moon’s possessed dog makes you think of old english horror fables like Hound of the Baskervilles.

Out of the two of them I think I’ll be picking up Frany’s cover. There’s something about it which draws you to it.
